About Us

Rahmatunnessa Shikkha Unnayan Foundation (RSUF) is a Bangladeshi development organization dedicated to the socio-economic advancement of the poorest of the poor. Founded on 10 January 2002 by Md. Jahidul Islam, RSUF is a non-government, non-political and non-profit organization that serves people of all backgrounds - regardless of religion, caste or creed.

Based in Paturia village under Kalukhali Upazila of Rajbari District, the organization primarily works across Rajbari and Magura districts. At the same time, the benefits of its various projects reach communities throughout Bangladesh.

As a people-based learning organization, we believe lasting change begins with the community itself. Meaningful participation of grassroots communities in every development effort remains one of our core principles. RSUF works holistically to address the five basic human needs - education, food, clothing, shelter and healthcare - helping people move towards self-reliance, dignity and a better quality of life.

History

Rahmantunnessa Shikkha Unnayan Foundation (RSUF) is named after the grandmother of its founder, Md. Jahidul Islam. She played an important role in supporting his education, and the organization carries her name as a mark of respect and gratitude.

In January 2002, Md. Jahidul Islam and a group of dedicated social workers started the organization by providing scholarships to underprivileged students. Four years later, in 2006, it was officially registered as Rahmantunnessa Shikkha Unnayan Foundation (RSUF).

Over the years, the organization gradually expanded its work. It continued the scholarship program, established technical training centers, and began supporting the ultra-poor through various development activities. All these efforts are still ongoing today.
